2004 Sweepstakes Judge
Lisa Ebnet (Ebnet Kennel, USA)

My love of dogs began early and from age 8-18 I
participated, competed, served and eventually led the local 4-H dog club.
My first purebred dog was a Shetland Sheepdog who introduced me to a
wonderful mentor who assisted me throughout 10 years of showing and
breeding shelties. In 1992, after college and marriage, Mrs. Pike
entrusted me with 4 of her beautiful dogs and I continue to build on this
foundation. I have attended multiple dog shows in 9 different countries
and continue to further my knowledge by visiting with other Berner
breeders throughout the world. I have attended the International Bernese
Club Symposium in Lagenthal, Switzerland, attended the 2002 World Winners
Show and breeders education and have missed only 1 BMDCA or BMDCC National
Specialty in the past 8 years. I will be attending 2003 Crufts and 2003
World Winners Show in Dortmund, Germany. All the while continuing to
evaluate as many litters as possible (over 40 structural evaluations to
date) as well as steward and judge matches for other breeds. As a
perpetual and passionate student of canine anatomy and physiology, I have
attended many classes, clinics and seminars conducted by local clubs,
universities and respected trainers, veterinarians and breeders.
I have earned AKC, CKC and UCI championships on more than twenty of my
own Bernese and earned multiple draft and obedience titles, CGC
designations and therapy dog titles as well. I am very active in the sport
of draft in the Pacific Northwest and have judged, chaired and/or
organized multiple draft events and helped over 150 draft teams get
started through my carting clinics and seminars. I have also judged local
all-breed conformation and obedience matches for 4-H groups and local
clubs. I am a member of the CKC, BMDCA, BMDCC, BMDCGS, INWBMDC and am
currently President of the PNWBMDF. Continual education and ongoing
evaluation of many dogs is essential for becoming a better judge of breed
strengths and weaknesses and I try to apply this knowledge to my own
breeding program as well I have bred and shown the Best of Opposite at the
2001 BMDCA Nationals, 2000 and 2002 BMDCC Nationals. I have shown several
dogs to AOM at both the BMDCA and BMDCC national and regional specialties
and recently won the BMDCC nationals with a dog I purchased in Belgium. I
also recently judged a Swiss Style match and wrote evaluations for Bernese
in Colorado. I am also slated to judge sweeps for the PNWGSMDC Regional
specialty in June as well as their draft test.
