Meet the 2009 Specialty Judges
Sue-Ellyn Rempel ~ Specialty Conformation Judge ~

I originally got involved in 'Show Dogs' with our first
Great Dane in 1970 and my Mom got into Beagles about the same time. We
struggled with health problems with the Danes and decided Dachshunds might
be our answer. We successfully bred Standard Long Hair Dachshunds for many
years and began showing professionally and got exposed to many breeds. I
decided that I wanted a Standard Poodle (my childhood purebred) and ended up
having all 3 varieties. We successfully settled down and bred Toy Poodles
with our last litter 10 year ago. Our kennel name was "Jasu".
Judging overtook time and ability to continue.
Candi Konicki ~ Sieger Show Judge ~

I live in
Chardon Ohio with my husband, Walt, and our six berners. I was a Jr. High
Math teacher for many years and have been a Principal for the past ten.
Having summers “off” allows time for our dog shows and travel!
We have
had berners since 1984 and breed occasionally. Our first endeavor at
breeding produced Ch. Adesa Stardust Over Lil’Mtn (Dusty) who won Best in
Futurity at the 1998 National Specialty. In the 90’s we were fortunate to
have Ch. Shersan’s Life in the Fast Lane (Cruiser) a top ten berner for
three years, who really taught us the “ropes” of dog showing. From that
point on we were hooked! We have since finished more than fifteen champions
in the U.S. and a few in Canada. I occasionally have had the opportunity to
show other people’s dogs and have finished a few newfies, flat coats, and
berners. I have also worked with our local 4-H Club as a judge for Jr.
Handling. Besides conformation, we enjoy carting, therapy work, and just
plain spoiling our dogs!

Medley Small ~ Sweepstakes Judge ~
I began my
affection for Boxers as a very young child. After beginning my teaching
career, I purchased two show quality Boxers from a well-known kennel in
Montreal. That was the beginning of CinnRhee Boxers. I have been breeding,
training and showing Boxers for almost thirty years and have had many top
dogs in both United States and Canada. I have also had the honour of
finishing many super stars from the United States.
I have
been teaching conformation classes for twenty years, which gives me the
opportunity to pass on much of the knowledge I have acquired during my
career in dogs. It also allows me the opportunity to learn about the
different breeds that have passed through my class.
I have
judged many Boxer Sweepstakes both in Canada and United States and have also
had the privilege of passing judgment on several different breeds here in
Canada.
I was
very happy when asked to do the Sweeps for the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of
Ontario. Thank you.

Charlie MacMillian (CA) ~ BMDCO All-Breed Rally Trials
Judge ~
I have
been training and showing dogs since 1972. In 1992, I had Canada ’s Top All
Breed Obedience Dog and the First Canadian Owned Sporting Dog (Golden
Retriever) to earn an American OTCH. I am now showing a Golden Retriever,
Fly’R who has earned a Canadian RAE3 and an American RAE5 along with a
Canadian MOTCH and an American UD working on our UDX.
I have
been Judging Rally for two years in both Canada and the United States. I
have judged in Ontario, Michigan, Ohio and Florida.
Paul Oslach (CA) ~ Specialty & All-Breed Obedience Trials Judge ~
One day I wandered down to the far end of the arena during a
dog show to see what else was going on. Next thing I knew I was hooked. The
dogs at that end of the ice pad were doing more interesting things like
jumping and retrieving. That was some where around 1980. Since then I have
trained and shown Cavalier King Charles Spainiels.
In 1982, I became the proud owner of Ch & OTCh. Picbrand
Mardi Grais, the first Cavalier in Canada (and North America) to obtain a
Utility Title. My judging career began the 1988 and has taken me all over
Canada and parts of the United States where I have seen some of the best
arenas. My other hobbies include camping and canoeing.
Mr. Oslach judged the BMDCO Specialty Obedience Trials in Ottawa in 2003.
Delvyn Lunn (CA) ~ Specialty & All-Breed
Obedience Trials Judge ~
I became involved in dog training in
1978. The first dog I trained was a German Shepherd. The training and
exhibiting of this dog led to a career of over thirty years in dog training.
In 1980 I purchased my first Golden
Retriever from Meadowpond Goldens in Michigan. This again has led to
breeding Goldens under the prefix “Goldunn”. I have trained my dogs through
many obedience titles over the years. I am actively involved in obedience as
an instructor at two facilities.
In January 1999 I became a licensed
Obedience judge and in 2007 a Rally judge. I have been fortunate to have
judged in many venues in the U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico. I find judging
another level of training where the experience is invaluable.
I am currently the president of The
Canadian Association of Obedience Trial Judges and a life member of the
Canadian Kennel Club.
I would like to wish the exhibitors
the best of luck in your trials. I would also like to take this opportunity
to wish you and your club continued success.
