2004 Sieger Show Judge
Barry McMath (Tennescott Kennel, USA)

I was born in England of Scottish parents and educated in Scotland. I
met my wife, Margaret at St. Andrews University where she was spending a
year abroad from an American College. I followed her to the U.S. We have
now been married for over 45 years, owning pure bred dogs for almost that
long. Along the way we bred and raised 4 children. My career was in
chemical research and marketing and in financial analysis.
Our first berner entered our lives in 1974. We have moved forward
slowly in the breed, showing our dogs regularly and breeding only
occasionally. Our goal is to keep type and soundness in mind and body. For
the year 2002 our home bred and owned “Ch. Tennescott Ferdinand Willison”,
was #2 Bernese Mountain Dog in the U.S. in both Breed and All Breed
Ratings.
In 1991, I began judging at all breed match shows and breed
sweepstakes. I have been AKC licensed to judge, Bernese Mountain Dogs
since 1995 and now I am also approved for Greater Swiss, Alaskan Malamute,
Siberian Husky and Boxers. I am in the process of applying for more
working breeds. I have judged at regional specialties for Bernese Mountain
Dogs and for Greater Swiss. Also, in 2002, I judged the Bernese Mountain
Dog Club of Scotland Specialty.
I regularly attend judge’s workshops and seminars because judging dogs
is an ongoing learning process. I have done extensive studying of dog
anatomy and movement.
My goal is to judge dogs intelligently and objectively in order to
preserve the integrity of the breeds. I am looking forward to my
assignment with the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ontario.
